We pause today to honor our nation’s veterans, those who have and still serve in our Armed Forces. It’s a day to remember that our Freedom is not free – it was won and is defended by those who guard it with their very lives.
This year also marks a special milestone: the 250th birthday of the United States Marine Corps. While each branch carries its own proud traditions, the Marine Corps’ three core values—Honor, Courage, and Commitment—reflect the heart of those in uniform.
Their values echo the call of every believer enlisted in the service of the greatest mission – to advance the Kingdom of God on earth, by discipling the nations.
We are called to honor Christ above comfort. To show courage in a culture that resists truth. To remain committed to His call even when the road is uncertain.
The example of our veterans also reminds us, perhaps most importantly, to live with urgency.
We don’t have the luxury of knowing when the mission will be complete. But we do know that ultimately, we are on the winning side – the gates of hell will never prevail against the church!
Every act of obedience, every word of truth, every hand extended in love moves us closer to the day when every tribe and tongue will know the name of Jesus.
So today, we say thank you—to every veteran and family who has borne the weight of service and sacrifice. Your example stirs us to press on with gratitude, resolve, and purpose.
May we, like you, live with honor.
May we stand with courage.
May we persevere in commitment.
And may we move with urgency until the work is finished.
