Tax funded Abortion Advances to the Senate

House Bill 110, taxpayer-funded abortion, passed the House, with 23 Democrats and the 3 New Castle County Republicans voting for it. It is now on its way to the Senate Health and Social Services committee.

HB 110 would require taxpayers to fully fund abortions through insurance, with no deductibles or co-pay up to $750, and only limited religious liberty exemptions for private insurers.

Here are the major flaws with HB 110:

  1. Abortion is prioritized over other elective services. As Rep. Jones-Giltner pointed out, our state doesn’t fully cover other elective procedures like eye care, certain hearing aids, and infertility drugs, or even a reproductive service like treating a prolapsed uterus. Why then does our General Assembly find it necessary to fully fund the death of our preborn, without even a co-pay or deductible?
  2. Abortion is prioritized over necessary medical services. Our state does not even have enough funds to fully cover services that are necessary, such as cancer treatments. Why is the state devoting those funds toward killing our preborn?
  3. Abortions are already fully funded. Planned Parenthood, with confirmation from DE’s attorney general’s website, claims that it will never turn any patient away for their inability to pay.
  4. The conscience rights of religious or non-religious business owners are not protected. The bill sponsor clarified that only churches and schools run by churches would be exempt from covering abortions for their employees. Religious organizations or businesses, or even non-religious groups who object to funding the killing of the preborn, would not be able to request an exemption.
  5. Abortion is not healthcare!! It is wrong to kill a person – especially for the sake of convenience – and call it “healthcare.”

Our state is displaying, in full color, an insatiable appetite for increasing the deaths of preborn babies in Delaware.

Abortion is being called “essential healthcare,” while the beautiful, life-giving miracle of pregnancy is being considered a “disease.”

Delaware’s Democrat party is pushing this agenda of death in full force, and bringing some of their Republican colleagues along.

Delaware Family Policy Council is NOT a partisan organization. Political parties change with the culture; our worldview is grounded in the truth of Scripture, and will not change

Scripture teaches that human beings are valuable because they are created in God’s Image. Period.

We can and should be thankful for the individuals in our state who stand for the value of life in the public square, and fight to defend it at all costs. However, the ultimate responsibility for cultivating the value and culture of life belongs to the church.

As our culture shifts and changes, our churches must stand firm on the authority of Scripture and what it says about protecting human life.
