Dear Pastors, Church Leaders, and Prayer Warriors,
This is an urgent call to prayer for churches across Delaware.
Tomorrow, the Delaware House of Representatives will vote on two proposed constitutional amendments. As you know, our state constitution is the most important governing document in Delaware.
🌑 SB 5 would establish abortion as a state constitutional right. This amendment would strip the preborn of any rights whatsoever in our state.
🌑 SB 100 would redefine marriage in the Delaware Constitution. This amendment moves our state further away from the historic and biblical understanding of marriage that has been upheld throughout much of human history.
These proposed constitutional changes have significant implications for the protection of life, for religious liberty, and for individuals and institutions that continue to hold and practice a biblical view of marriage.
As the Director of the Delaware Church Ambassador Network, I spend time with our elected officials whenever the General Assembly is in session, bringing pastors from across our state to pray for and encourage them. We also seek opportunities for the shepherds of government – our elected leaders – and the shepherds of the Church – our local pastors – to work together for the good of our communities.
SB 5 and SB 100 are contrary to God’s design for life and marriage.
This is my testimony at the House Committee Hearing for SB 100.
For this reason, I am asking you to join us in prayer.
Over the past week, the Lord has continually brought Ezekiel 36:25–27 to my heart. I have been praying these verses over our elected officials, asking God to cleanse them, renew their hearts, and draw them to Himself. If God can do this in one life, He can do it in any life.
Here is the prayer:
“Lord, sprinkle clean water on our elected officials, and they will be clean; cleanse them from all their impurities and from all their idols. Give them a new heart and put a new spirit within them; remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh. And put Your Spirit within them and move them to follow Your decrees and be careful to keep Your laws. Amen.”
Please take time today and tomorrow to call your congregation to prayer. Pray for wisdom as these important decisions are considered. Pray for our state. Pray for our churches. Most importantly, pray that our elected officials would come to know Christ personally.
If you are a pastor and would like to come to Legislative Hall tomorrow to pray in person, please do not hesitate to do so. Likewise, if you would like to contact your State Representative but are unsure how to do so, please reach out to me. I would be honored to help.
Thank you for standing in prayer during this important moment for Delaware.
In Christ,
