As I stood with the students at this year’s Leadership Congress, I was surprised to see a former student, a graduate from 3 years ago, walk through the doors.
He was not the only one. Throughout this 3-day leadership training intensive, eight alumni in total visited – some from other states – to support and interact with the students!
A lasting community of young leaders, supporting each other and standing together to protect liberty – that was my vision for Leadership Congress when we partnered with Patriot Academy to bring this program to Delaware in 2014.
Over a decade later, that vision is being fulfilled.

Leadership Congress is not a summer camp – it’s an intensive leadership training program. Students sharpen their communication skills at Legislative Hall, as they debate bills that they’ve written and learn principles of godly leadership.
15-16 year olds learned alongside college-aged students, married couples, young professionals and business owners. Alumni from Leadership Congress are current or aspiring attorneys, pastors, doctors, parents, ministry leaders, political influencers, authors, legislators – and the list goes on!
The community that our Leadership Congress has forged after 12 years of existence is invaluable. As these young people grow and are strategically placed in the arena where God calls them, they will know that they are not alone – they have peers in their state and across the nation who also stand on biblical conviction.

Alumni Alexis Lilly and Joseph Collins served as the Governor and Speaker of the House. Alexis Lilly was the first pregnant governor in Leadership Congress history! Her husband and several of her family members also attended the class as students.
