How is it that the nation sends such a clear message through historic election results, yet Delaware goes the opposite direction?
How is it that 26 states and counting have banned the practice of trans mutilating surgeries for minors, but Delaware is literally luring kids into the trans industry?
How is it that Delaware just elected the first transgender identifying person to Congress?
The underlying issue is so much bigger…
Detransitioners, the Supreme Court, and Delaware’s attempts to become the hub for transing kids.
The most important case of the year was argued before the U.S. Supreme Court this month. The 2 1/2 hours of oral arguments and interchange between the attorneys and the justices reinforced the fact that so much will depend upon its outcome.
The Supreme Court’s decision will affect states, like Delaware, who not only refuse to protect their own minors, but try to lure kids from other states into the trans industry.
The decision will determine if a state can ban “transgender” medical procedures, including hormonal development or surgeries, for children.
Detransitioners spoke up in force through congressional testimony, lawsuits, meetings with lawmakers, and friend of the court briefs. A quick youtube search of “detransitioners” will fill your feed with hundreds of examples and testimonies exposing the trans industry as the biggest medical scandal in our history.
Also this year, the leading transgender “experts” – WPATH – admitted in leaked statements that minors and vulnerable adults cannot truly consent to these experimental trans drugs and surgeries. The risks include, among other things, sterilization and permanently damaging healthy sexual function.
But in Delaware this year, activist legislators – who have just been re-elected – proposed House Bill 346, which would remove liability from doctors who perform experimental, mutilating “transing” surgeries on minors both in and out of the state. Representative Elect Sarah McBride, first elected to Delaware’s local senate in 2020, was a sponsor of this legislation.
Sarah McBride is pictured here in 2017 reading the book “I Am Jazz” to kindergartners in a neighboring state. The book’s author Jazz Jennings, now an adult, is the subject of a reality show that tells his story as a transgender person. It’s not hard to see the manipulation and exploitation in the show, which goes as far as to monetize the trauma Jazz experienced from a botched surgery. This is just one example of the ideological conveyor belt of exploitation of children that Sarah McBride promotes.
In its original form, HB 346 would have allowed the state to take jurisdiction of minors who are “unable to obtain gender affirming care.” Please re-read that. The state would have been able to take emergency custody of kids whose parents were/are standing in the way of this dangerous ideology!
A WIN for now! We sounded the alarm and thousands of you responded. Because so many sent in comments and calls to their legislators, neither version of this bill made it to the House floor for a vote in 2024! However, we should expect another attempt in 2025.
The Bigger Issue for Delaware, the Nation, and the Church.
What is at the root of this idea that a person can change his or her gender and that gender is separate from sex? Ultimately, it is complete rejection of God’s creative order and His design for human flourishing.
How exactly do we understand human beings who present themselves as transgender? That’s the basic question before the Supreme Court now. It is also the question that we as Christians have to think through biblically and compassionately.
We have tremendous opportunity and responsibility as the church to bring clarity to the chaos. DFPC offers terrific resources to help navigate this issue.
Delawareans, and especially Christians, can’t afford to be apathetic, uninformed, and easily deceived. We can only detect lies when we know the truth first, and we can only defeat deception with the truth – the whole truth – and nothing but the truth. Compromise of the truth never leads to victory.
As Christians who are assigned to Delaware, our community, our church, and ultimately our family, we are the ones to point people to Jesus and live out the transformation power of the Holy Spirit in our own lives.
An Opportunity to Steward Well.
Delaware is a mission field. Seeing it that way is our best hope.
What if every church viewed Delaware through this lens?
This is the core of our purpose at Delaware Family Policy Council. Discussions about policy present a massive opportunity for us to lead people to the bigger questions of who God is, and the importance of trusting His design for human flourishing.
We, the church, can be the agents of transformation we’ve been called to be in our state. Your tax-deductible gift today helps us continue to inform and equip thousands to have the bold conversations Delawareans need to hear.
Thank you for your continued partnership as we head into 2025, the year of the biggest opportunities yet.
